Stage & Parlour Magician

Some moments call for magic the whole room can share at once. When guests are seated after dinner, gathered for an awards evening or settled in for the night’s entertainment, David Linacre performs a spellbinding parlour and stage show that turns a roomful of people into a single, gasping audience.

A member of The Magic Circle, David combines astonishing sleight of hand with genuine mind reading, delivered with the timing and presence of a seasoned performer. It is close-up magic’s more theatrical cousin: the same impossible skill, scaled up so that everyone shares the same astonished moment together.

Magician Stage & Parlour

Magic for the whole room

Where close-up magic moves from group to group, a stage or parlour set brings everyone together. All eyes on one performance, one shared reaction, one collective moment of disbelief. It is the perfect centrepiece for an evening: a defined show with a beginning, a build and a finale that leaves the room buzzing.

Parlour and stage

Parlour and stage, two sizes of the same magic

Parlour magic is the intimate version, ideal for a smaller gathering of around twenty to forty guests seated together in a private room, a marquee or a restaurant’s function space. Stage magic scales the same show to a larger audience, with a microphone and a raised performing area where the room allows. David advises on the right format once he understands your numbers and your space, so the performance always fits the room.

Performance

An after-dinner show they will not forget

For corporate dinners, awards evenings and cabaret-style entertainment, a stage set is a refined alternative to the usual after-dinner speaker. David holds the room with astonishing magic and mind reading, weaves in warmth and humour, and, where it suits, threads your company, your milestone or your guests of honour into the performance. Guests leave talking, and remembering.

Real Magician

Mind reading at the heart of it

David is as much a mentalist as a magician. Woven through every stage and parlour set is an element of mind reading and subtle psychology, the same craft he brings to corporate audiences as a keynote speaker. A thought never spoken aloud. A choice that felt entirely free. A detail he could not possibly have known. It is this blend of impossible skill and real mystery that lifts the show beyond a sequence of tricks.

Expect

What to expect

David works with you in advance to shape the set around your evening, your audience and your running order. A parlour or stage show typically runs as a focused performance of an agreed length, and he brings everything the magic needs. For larger rooms a microphone and a small raised area help everyone see, and David will talk your venue through anything required. He carries full public liability insurance and is happy to provide documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Stage and parlour magic FAQ'S

What is parlour magic?

Magic performed for a whole group at once, rather than table to table. It suits a seated audience of roughly twenty to forty in a private room, marquee or function space, and works as a defined show with a beginning and an end.

They are the same show at different scales. Parlour is the intimate version for a smaller room; stage is the larger version for a bigger audience, usually with a microphone and a raised performing area. David recommends the right fit once he knows your numbers and your space.

Yes. A stage set is an ideal after-dinner or cabaret centrepiece for corporate dinners, awards evenings and celebrations, and a memorable alternative to a traditional speaker.

The skill is the same, and mind reading runs right through it. The difference is that the whole room shares each moment together rather than seeing it in small groups. Many clients book close-up magic during a reception and a stage or parlour set later in the evening. See Close-Up Magic and Speaking.

From an intimate parlour audience of twenty or so up to a full room for a stage show. David tailors the performance and the staging to your guest numbers.

Not always. Parlour magic needs only a clear space where guests can see. For larger audiences a microphone and a small raised area help, and David will advise your venue on anything needed.

Prices start from £145 for a 30-minute daytime performance, with a stage or parlour show tailored to the length and format of your evening. Fees depend on length, date and location, so get in touch for a tailored quote.

Based in Sheffield, David performs across Yorkshire and throughout the UK.
